Advertisers need to make sure kids are excited about all the different types of sports they can play and that they are connected to a range of sports programs, said the head of sports marketing at the marketing company Gelsish.
“We’ve always had kids interested in sports, but we have to make that connection with them,” said the CEO of Gelsishes, Michael O’Connor.
“And there are some great sports brands that do that.”
O’Connor says it is important to have a range for young people that include everything from cricket to golf to soccer to rugby.
“You need a range to make your brand feel relevant to all ages,” he said.
“It’s important to think about what your target audience is, what they want, what your brand is.”
They need to feel they’re part of a brand that they’re connected to.

She is a member to the Australia-based team which includes four Australian Paralympians and four Paralympian-Swedish Paralympic medallists.
She hopes to be part of the team which will be competing alongside other Australians, but it won’t be the first time she has competed in Rio.
Simone said she has always been a strong competitor.”
Being able to be on that team is something that’s really special and I’ve always been able to do it with my family,” she said.
